Out of Cream of Tartar?

cream-of-tartar.gifCream of Tartar is one of those ingredients that, while I tend to keep it on hand, I don’t use it very often.  That means by the time I usually get around to needing it, I might have run out of it without even knowing it, or it might be rock hard and unusable.

That’s why this recent substitution tip from the folks at Woman’s Day magazine is so perfect.  If you don’t have Cream of Tartar on hand, use 1-1/2 teaspoons of lemon juice or vinegar for every 1/2 teaspoon that you need.
