On Saturday 8/9/08 we cooked some spareribs. I took my first bite and thought i swollowed a bone that got stuck in my throat. I went to the hospital where they did x-rays and found out it was a brush hawg wire bristle it was a 1/4 inch in to my throat and they had to bring me in to the operating room to YANK it out. My bills will be high and I am thinking of contacting a lawyer to pay my bill. Is anyone interested in starting a class action suit?

Guys,

I haven't experienced this problem with the Brush or Hedge Hawg, but it appears that a lot of you have.

I've sent an email to my contacts at Charbroil about this.

I'll post whatever response Charbroil sends

Caution: I too have noticed broken wires from the Brush Hawg stuck to the grill, everyone needs to use caution when cleaning a grill with this brush or any other. These little brass colored wires seem to stick right to the grills. I picked up & washed and hit it on something to make sure. But still scares me that the potential for somebody to get injured seriously if not found in time.

Try a Grill Wizard Grill Brush. The TINY tip of a wire bristle brush is completely inefficient for cleaning a grate... Woven Mesh Scourers are incredibly efficient.

So sorry to hear about your problem. I haven't experienced the bristles falling out of my brush hawg, but I have with other brushes.

Please be careful when using any equipment. Always check your grill for any foreign objects before cooking.

I loved the Brush Hawg until tonight. I did just as stated in the article. Just before cooking late tonight I did a final brushing of my grill. Little did I know the almost new brush was falling apart, it left a bristle that imbeded in the meat I was cooking. This same piece of stainless imbeded in the mouth of one of our guest. This was not a plasent situation. I am sending a letter to Charbroil that the temper of the stainless or a design flaw in their "Made in China" brush is a possible hazard to other consumers. It appears that after use, the bristles brake off easily at their base because of the kink in the wire. My suggestion is if you use this product "please use caution".
