Pie Crust Shield

Another handy kitchen tip from Todd Johns from Plowboysbbq. Thanks, Todd.

If you’ve ever made a pie, you’ve likely had the edges of the crust burn before the rest of the pie is done. A metal pie crust shield helps balance the cooking time. The way that we use it is to place the pie in the oven as is. Once the edges start to look brown, add the pie crust shield.

Another option if you don’t have a premade shield is to create one out of foil.

Hey - That pie looks a lot like a BBQ pot pie that I saw over on Get Your Grill On.

Coincidence? I think not!

I don’t know about that, but it sure does look tasty! Nice job, Todd…
